COVID-19: Cases tally hits 1,055 as eight more test positive

Eight more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 as of 11.58 pm on Thursday (21), says the Ministry of Health.

On that account, the number of coronavirus patients detected on Thursday has climbed to 27.

The Department of Government Information said 11 of these cases are navy personnel, 15 are returnees from Dubai who are undergoing mandatory quarantine at the facility in Giragama. The remaining positive case has been identified as a returnee from Kuwait.

Sri Lanka’s total count of coronavirus infections thereby reached 1,055.

A total of 604 of these coronavirus patients have made complete recoveries.

The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry says that 442 active cases are currently under medical care at selected hospitals.

The country’s death toll due to coronavirus currently stands at 09.
