‘ITUKAMA’ Fund grants Rs. 100 Mn to Health Ministry for PCR tests

‘ITUKAMA’ Healthcare and Social Security Fund has granted Rs. 100 million to the Ministry of Health for carrying out Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests.

The Director General of Health Services, Dr. Anil Jasinghe announced this today (29).

The media campaign ‘ITUKAMA’– the fund-raising initiative for the COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund – was launched on May 13.

The COVID-19 Fund was established by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to support and strengthen activities to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and related social welfare program.

Subsequently, on May 21, the government announced that the COVID-19 Fund is being operated under the brand name ‘ITUKAMA’. Accordingly, the Fund was renamed ‘ITUKAMA – COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund’. The branding was carried out in order to attract more local and foreign benefactor.
