Nine fresh cases confirmed; Covid-19 cases hike to 1,540

COVID-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka escalated to 1,540 today (29) as nine more persons tested positive for the virus.

Three of these patients are imported cases, the Ministry of Health said, adding that the remaining 6 cases are navy personnel.

Earlier today (29), nine coronavirus patients were discharged from the Colombo East Base Hospital, Navy Hospital and Homagama Base Hospital as they had recovered completely. This brought the recoveries tally to 754.

The number of actives cases currently under medical accordingly stands at 776.

Sri Lanka reported its 10th COVID-19 death on Monday (25) as a 51-year-old woman who had arrived in the country from Kuwait succumbed to the disease.
