June 3, 2020   08:29 pm

A countrywide curfew will come into force from 10.00 pm tonight (June 03) until 4.00 am on Saturday (June 06), the government has announced.

With that, the country will be under curfew for the entirety of Thursday (June 04) and Friday (June 05), in view of the Poson Poya.

In the meantime, June 04 has been declared a holiday for all government entities, taking into account the island-wide curfew that is to be imposed tonight.

From Saturday (June 06) onwards, the curfew will be effective in all the districts as before – from 10.00 pm to 4.00 am daily until further notice.

The general public has been urged to strictly adhere to health and hygiene safety protocols introduced by the relevant authorities to arrest the spread of coronavirus pandemic.
