Another coronavirus patient adds up to 1,790 total cases

Another person has tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka as of 5.30 pm today (04), bringing the total count of confirmed cases to 1,790.

The Department of Government Information said this fresh coronavirus case is a returnee from Dubai who is undergoing mandatory quarantine at the facility in Giragama.

In the meantime, 40 more patients were detected earlier this evening – 36 navy men under quarantine in Kandakadu and Oluvil, 3 returnees from India at Katukeliyawa quarantine centre and another returnee from Bangladesh at Diyatalawa quarantine centre.

According to the Epidemiology Unit of the Ministry of Health, a total of 940 patients who tested positive for the virus are currently under medical care.

Meanwhile, the number of recoveries in Sri Lanka has risen to 839 thus far.

The death toll due to Covid-19 in Sri Lanka is 11.
