A court order has been issued preventing the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) from staging a protest in the vicinity of the United States Embassy in Colombo.

The Police Media Spokesman stated that the aforementioned party is thereby prohibited from staging any protest near or in the close proximity of the Embassy.

Reportedly, the Frontline Socialist Party (FSP) had planned to stage a protest before the US Embassy in Colombo today (08).

However, upon a request made by the Colpetty OIC, the Fort Magistrate issued an order preventing General Secretary of FSP Senadheera Gunatilake and Propaganda Secretary of FSP Duminda Nagamuwa and several others as well as the general public, preventing them from protesting in the vicinity of the embassy.

The court order further reads that violating this order is a punishable offense under Section 185 of the Penal Code.
