Day-care centers will be reopened from July 01, the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs has announced.

Secretary to the Ministry, Neil Bandara Hapuhinna said day-care centres have been instructed to follow health guidelines introduced by the Health Ministry when they resume activities.

These guidelines are already directed to all day-care centres across the country, he said further.

However, the decision on reopening of preschools is yet to be taken, Mr. Hapuhinna added. According to reports, preschools may resume activities after the General Election is held.

In the meantime, schools will be reopened under four stages from June 29 following the temporary closure due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Education Ministry is yet to announce the date for resuming Grade 1 and 2 classes at schools.
