State and private sector office hours revised?

It has been decided by the government to revise the existing working hours of the private and sector offices.

Accordingly, it has been recommended to set state sector office hours from 9.00 am until 4.45 pm and the private sector from 9.45 am until 6.45 pm.

The office hours have been revised with the objective of maintaining social distance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, avoiding traffic congestion and improving the efficiency of public and private services.

On a directive issued by the President, Transport Services Minister Mahinda Amaraweera appointed a committee headed by Additional Secretary Tilakaratne Banda to prepare a report with relevant recommendations.

Report prepared by the Committee to revise the existing office hours was handed over to the Minister today (30) the Secretary to the Ministry Gamini Seneviratne.

The recommendations will be implemented with the approval of the Ministry of Public Administration and the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister Amaraweera said at a press conference held today.
