Close accomplice of ‘Podi Lassie’ arrested

A close accomplice of the notorious underworld figure ‘Podi Lassie’ has been arrested at the Gonapeenuwala area in Meetiyagoda.

The arrest has been made during raid based on a tip-off received by the officials of the Police Special Task Force (STF).

Reportedly, 45 grams of Kerala Cannabis and 02 swords have been found in the possession of the suspect.

The arrested suspect has been handed over to the Meetiyagoda Police for onward investigations.

Meanwhile, another individual, with 11 arrest warrants issued on him, has been arrested in Weerakeitya with weapons and drugs.

A T-56 firearm, a Magazine with 30 rounds of ammunition, and 01 g 610 mg of heroin has been found on the suspect.

The 34 year old arrestee has been identified to be a member of a organized crime gang as well, stated the Police.

It has also been revealed that nearly 25 court cases are pending against him over burglary in various areas of the country and that 11 arrest warrants have been issued on him.

The suspect will be produced before the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court today (27).
