October 18, 2020   08:34 am

The origin of the second wave of COVID-19 outbreak in Sri Lanka could be a foreign country, says Army Commander and Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

He mentioned this joining the TV Derana breakfast show ‘Derana Aruna’, this morning (18).

He pointed out that the last discovery of the Kandakadu COVID-19 connection was made in August and thereby, there were no coronavirus cases in the society.

The last COVID-19 case from the society in Colombo was detected on April 30. Peple arrived in the country from foreign countries, he pointed out.

Six persons, who came from foreign countries for maritime affairs, have been identified, yesterday (17), to be infected with COVID-19.

In that sense, we have made some kind of discovery. But we are unable to declare it out loud until we are completely sure.”
