Over 200kg of Kerala cannabis seized in Mannar

Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Police managed to seize a stock of over 200 kg Kerala cannabis, during a special operation conducted in Oluthuduwai, Mannar today (18).

Accordingly, the North Central Naval Command together with the Police Station Vice Branch, Mannar seized 200 kg and 825 g of Keral cannabis, during this special operation carried out in Mannar.

The stock of Kerala cannabis smuggled by sea with the intention of distribution, had been found at the beach area of Oluthuduwai.

The haul of cannabis had been contained in 94 packages stuffed in 10 Polythene sacks, stated Sri Lanka Navy.

The Kerala cannabis seized adhering to the prevention guidelines for COVID-19, was handed over to the Mannar Police for onward investigation. 

Meanwhile, the Navy and Police are conducting further operations in search of the suspects involved in this racketeering.
