It has been made compulsory for the visitors of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Sri Dalada Maligawa) to bring their National Identity Card with them, stated Pradeep Nilanga Dela, the Chief Custodian of Sri Dalada Maligawa (Diyawadana Nilame).

In addition, steps have also been taken to temporarily suspend the admission of residents of quarantine curfew areas to ensure the health safety of other devotees, he said.

The Diyawadana Nilame pointed out that these measures have been taken to ensure the safety of the devotees who visit Dalada Maligawa daily and to maintain the traditional Dalada Pooja rituals, in the backdrop of the COVID-19 outbreak.

Further, devotees will only be admitted to the temple premises after proper implementation of hygienic procedures such as wearing face masks, washing hands, and checking body temperature, he added.
