Showers possible in several areas after 2 pm

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Eastern, Uva, and North-Central provinces and in Jaffna, Mullaitivu, and Vavuniya districts after 2.00 pm today (October 25), according to the Department of Meteorology.

 

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

 

A few showers may occur in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Kurunegala, Galle, and Matara districts.

 

SEA AREAS

 

A few showers may occur in the sea areas extending from Negombo to Matara via Colombo and Galle. Showers or thundershowers may occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Kankesanturai to Batticaloa via Trincomalee in the evening or night.

 

Winds will be Westerly to South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and the wind speed will be (20-30) kmph. The wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph in the sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.

 

The sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be fairly rough at times. The other sea areas around the island can be slight to moderate.
