Hatton town has been declared as an isolated area, says the Commander of Army Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva.

The move comes as a measure to prevent the spread of the Covid-19.

Accordingly, no person will be permitted to enter or leave the areas designated as isolated.

Reports revealed that 10 more positive cases of Covid-19 were identified from the Hatton town today (27).

It was reported last Sunday that a vendor at the Hatton weekly fair, who had purchased stocks of fish from Peliyagoda Fish Market, was exposed to the virus.

Thirty contacts of this patient were subsequently referred to PCR tests and 10 of them were tested positive for Covid-19, the Chairman of Hatton Dickoya Urban Council, S. Balachandran said.

The fresh cases include four family members of the fish vendor in question, his driver and five other vendors in the Hatton town.
