Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster crosses 7,000 mark with 137 new cases

The Department of Government Information confirms that 137 more persons linked to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster were tested positive for Covid-19 today (31).

According to reports, 99 of them are contacts of previous cases found from the Peliyagoda Fish Market and fisheries harbours. The remaining 38 have been identified from quarantine centres.

Thereby, the total number of Covid-19 infections registered by the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster reached 7,083.

With the new development, Sri Lanka has confirmed 10,561 novel coronavirus infections to date.

According to Health Ministry’s data, 4,399 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the virus.

The Epidemiology Unit says 6,142 active cases are still receiving medical treatment at selected hospitals across the island.

Meanwhile, total deaths from Covid-19 stand at 20.

Sri Lanka witnessed the highest daily count of Covid-19 cases on the 23rd of October with a record total of 866 fresh positive cases. The second-highest was recorded on the 6th of October with 739 infections.
