Sri Lanka confirms 22nd death from Covid-19

Sri Lanka has reported another Covid-19 related death, the Department of Government Information confirmed a short while ago.

The deceased, a 68-year-old female, had been pronounced dead on the 01st of October while at a house in Jampettah Street in Colombo.

Epidemiology Unit says her remains were subsequently referred to the Judicial Medical Officer for the post-mortem examination, who posthumously declared that she was infected with the novel coronavirus.

One of the family members of the deceased was also previously tested positive for the virus while the rest of the members of the family were placed under quarantine at their residence, the state information bureau revealed.

The Director-General of Health has confirmed that her cause of death was ruled as Covid-19 related pneumonia.
