COVID-19 rapid antigen testing commences from today

The Ministry of Health today (18) released a set of guidelines for conducting rapid antigen tests for the detection of COVID-19 infection.

Directions have been issued to use the rapid antigen test kits donated by the World Health Organization (WHO) from today onwards.

The test can be carried out at all government hospitals including the National Hospitals, Teaching Hospitals, General Hospitals, District Hospitals, and Regional Hospitals.

The guidelines issued by the Director-General of Health state that rapid antigen testing should be carried out under the guidance and supervision of a microbiologist or virologist.

Accordingly, rapid antigen testing has been launched today in the Colombo metropolitan area and other related areas to identify patients.
