Coronavirus: 251 fresh cases in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka has registered 251 fresh positive cases of Covid-19 this evening (27), Health Ministry’s statistics revealed.

The Government Information Department stated that all of the newly-identified patients are close contacts of earlier cases linked to the Peliyagoda fish market. 

Following the new development in Covid-19 figures, Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda dual cluster’s infections tally has reached 18,742.

As per Epidemiology Unit data, the total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country to date now stands at 22,279.

Recoveries from the virus meanwhile climbed to 16,226 earlier today, as 410 more patients regained health.

However, 5,954 active cases are still under medical care at selected hospitals and treatment centres located across the island.

Sri Lanka has also witnessed 99 deaths related to Covid-19.
