Covid-19 infections soar as 274 more test positive

Total number of Covid-19 cases registered by the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster hit 19,237 today (28), as more persons were tested positive for the virus. 

The Department of Government Information said 274 new infections were detected within the day.

All the new cases are close contacts of the Peliyagoda fish market cluster, reports confirmed.

With the new development, Sri Lanka has confirmed 22,775 novel coronavirus infections to date.

According to the Health Ministry’s data, 16,656 of the confirmed patients have made complete recoveries from the virus.

However, 6,012 active cases are still under medical care at selected hospitals and treatment centres across the country.
