Seven more people including 02 inmates die of Covid-19

Sri Lanka has witnessed 07 new Covid-19 related deaths, the Director-General of Health Services confirmed a short while ago.

 

Five of the victims are from Bandaragama, Dematagoda, Colombo 13, Wellampitiya and the remaining two were identified as prison inmates.

 

The new development brings the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 137, Epidemiology Unit data revealed.

 

Details of the newly-reported victims are as follows:

 

One of the deceased, a 91-year-old male from Bandaragama, has died at his home on Thursday (December 03). He has suffered a heart attack due to Covid-19 infection.

 

Another person from Bandaragama has fallen victim to the virus while at home. The victim was identified as a woman, aged 81 years. She died of Covid-19 pneumonia on Friday (December 04).

 

A 56-year-old woman who was residing in Dematagoda also died of Covid-19 pneumonia on Friday (December 04). She had been under medical care in the Intensive Care Unit of the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID).

 

As per reports, a third woman, an 84-year-old, has died of Covid-19 pneumonia. She was confirmed dead on Friday (December 04) at her home in Colombo 13.

 

Another woman, a 62-year-old who was living in Wellampitiya passed away today (December 05) while receiving treatment at the National Institute of Infectious Diseases (NIID). The cause of death was cited as multiple organ failure due to diabetes, high blood pressure and Covid-19 infection.

 

In the meantime, a 53-year-old prison inmate has fallen victim to the virus on Tuesday (December 01). Reports revealed that he had been suffering from Covid-19 pneumonia.

 

A second inmate, who was held at Welikada Prison, also died of Covid-19 pneumonia. He was under medical care at the prison’s infirmary when he passed away on Wednesday (December 02).
