The Police Special Task Force has arrested a drug peddling woman in the area of Dehiwala last evening (February 07).

The raid was carried out near a house located at Hospital Road in Kalubowila.

According to reports, the suspect in question, infamously known as “Kudu Rejina” among other drug dealers, also operated under the alias “Poosi”.

The STF officers have seized 1.064 kg of heroin worth nearly Rs. 15 million from the possession of the suspect.

During interrogations, it was revealed that the woman in question is the wife of the drug trafficker named Indika Gamage alias “Army Indika”.

“Army Indika” is also the prime suspect in the robbery of a shop in Nittambuwa back in 2001, in which valuables worth over Rs. 10 million were looted. According to police sources, many other cases of robbery cases are being investigated against him.

The couple had been distributing narcotics belonging to another smuggler known as Badowita Asanka, who operates his drug syndicate from overseas.

The 40-year-old will be produced before Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today.

She has been handed over to the Police Narcotics Bureau for further investigations.
