New chairpersons appointed to COPE and COPF

New chairpersons have been appointed to the Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) and the Committee on Public Finance (COPF).

 

Accordingly, SLPP MP Prof. Charitha Herath will serve as the chair of the Committee on Public Enterprises.

 

In the meantime, SLPP MP Anura Priyadharshana Yapa was re-elected to serve as the chairperson of the Committee on Public Finance. His name has been nominated by MP Prof. Ranjith Bandara.

 

New members of the Committee on Public Enterprises were announced by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament on Tuesday (Feb. 08).

 

The Committee of Selection had nominated the following 22 members to the COPE in accordance with the provisions of Standing Order 120 of the Parliament and the motion agreed to by Parliament on January 21:

 

Mahinda Samaraweera, Mahindananda Aluthgamage, Rohitha Abeygunawarddena, Dr. Sarath Weerasekara, Jayantha Samaraweera, D.V. Chanaka, Indika Anuruddha Herath, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Rauff Hakeem, Susil Premajayantha, Anura Dissanayake, Patali Champika Ranawaka, Jagath Pushpakumara, Dr. Harsha de Silva, Eran Wickramaratne, Nalin Bandara Jayamaha, S.M. Marikkar, Premnath C. Dolawatte, Shanakiyan Rajaputhiran Rasamanickam, Madhura Withanage, Prof. Charitha Herath and Sagara Kariyawasam

 

Meanwhile, the following 21 new members of the Committee on Public Finance were announced in Parliament on January 21:

 

Dr. Bandula Gunawardena, Dr. Sarath Weerasekera, Vidura Wickramanayaka, Kanchana Wijesekera, Indika Anurudhdha Herath, Dr. Nalaka Godahewa, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, Vijitha Herath, Dilan Perera, Kumara Welgama, Dr. Harsha De Silva, Manusha Nanayakkara, M. A. Sumanthiran, Dr. Kavinda Heshan Jayawardena, Mujibur Rahuman, Premitha Bandara Tennakoon, Isuru Dodangoda, Anupa Pasqual, Nalin Fernando, Prof. Ranjith Bandara and Dr. Suren Raghavan
