Soldier at Panagoda army camp takes his own life

A soldier attached to the army camp in Panagoda committed suicide today (Feb 24) by shooting himself.

According to the army spokesperson, the soldier in question had used his service weapon, a T-56 firearm, to take his own life.

The 32-year-old is reportedly a resident of Naula area in Matale.

The reason for the suicide was not immediately clear. However, Homagama Police has initiated probes into the matter.
