Lanka IOC – Indian Oil Corporation’s subsidiary in Sri Lanka – has suspended the fuel supplies to 26 filling stations, as they have continuously failed to adhere to the fuel quotas under the QR code system.

Meanwhile, the licenses of 40 CEYPETCO filling stations, too, were suspended for the same reason following a decision taken at a progress review meeting chaired by Power & Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera.

The representatives of Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) and Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Ltd. (CPSTL) attended the said meeting held on Thursday (April 06).

Meanwhile, the existing fuel quota under the QR code system was increased with effect from midnight on April 04, in view of the upcoming Sinhala & Tamil New Year festive season.

Accordingly, the three-wheeler quotas were increased from 5 litres to 8 litres, motorcycles from 4 litres to 7 litres, buses from 40 litres to 60 litres, cars from 20 litres to 30 litres, land vehicles from 15 litres to 25 litres, lorries from 50 litres to 75 litres, quadric cycle from 4 litres to 6 litres, special purpose vehicles from 20 litres to 30 litres and vans from 20 litres to 30 litres.
