On the directives of President Ranil Wickremesinghe, plans are in motion to erect a temporary accessway at the Bambalapitiya railway station within 10 days by removing the current pedestrian flyover, the President’s Media Division (PMD) reported.

Emphasizing its urgent necessity, the President has also instructed to demolish the existing dilapidated flyover and complete the new flyover within five months.

The State Development and Construction Corporation has been entrusted with the project, under the oversight of the Road Development Authority (RDA), according to the PMD.

Meanwhile, a financial allocation of Rs. 50 million has been made for this purpose, the PMD added, mentioning that the design and construction will be carried out under the supervision of the RDA.

All activities related to the purpose are reportedly set to commence today (09) itself, the statement said.
