‘Red’ landslide early warning issued for several areas in Matara

The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued a ‘Level 03’ red alert for landslide risks in Pitabeddara, Akuressa and Hakmana Divisional Secretariat Divisions of the Matara District.

The relevant landslide early warning will be in effect for 24 hours until 4.00 p.m. tomorrow (12), it said.

Furthermore, an ‘Amber’ landslide early warning has been issued for several areas in 07 districts; Galle, Kalutara, Hambantota, Kegalle, Matara, Ratnapura and Badulla.

Galle District: Elpitiya, Imaduwa, Nagoda, Yakkalamulla, Galle Four Gravets, Imaduwa, Neluwa, Thawalama, Ambalangoda, Niyagama, Akmeemana, Bope Poddala and Baddegama Divisional Secretariat Divisions (DSDs) and surrounding areas
Kalutara District: Walallawita and Mathugama DSDs and surrounding areas
Hambantota: Walasmulla and Katuwana DSDs and surrounding areas
Kegalle: Deraniyagala, Dehiowita, Ruwanwella and Yatiyanthota DSDs and surrounding areas
Matara: Matara, Welipitiya, Athuraliya, Kirinda Puhulwella, Pasgoda, Mulatiyana, Kamburupitiya, Malimbada, Thihagoda and Kotapola DSDs and surrounding areas
Ratnapura: Kalawana, Ratnapura, Kuruwita, Eheliyagoda and Elapatha DSDs and surrounding areas
Badulla: Haputhale and Haldummulla DSDs and surrounding areas

Meanwhile, a Level 1 (Yellow) warning was issued for the following areas:

Hambantota: Okewela and Beliatta DSDs and surrounding areas
Kalutara: Agalawatta, Palindanuwara, Bulathsinhala, Dodangoda and Ingiriya DSDs and surrounding areas
Kegalle: Kegalle and Bulathkohupitiya DSDs and surrounding areas
Ratnapura: Imbulpe, Godakawela, Kaltota, Kahawatta, Openayake, Nivithigala, Kiriella, Ayagama, Pelmadulla, Weligepola and Kolonna
