Significant increase of HIV infections in Sri Lanka

The National STD/AIDS Control Programme says that there is a significant increase in the percentage of HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infections in Sri Lanka compared to last year.

Director of the National STD/AIDS Control Programme Dr. Janaki Vidanapathirana mentioned that sexually active individuals in the age group of 20 to 30 years are at increased risk.

Dr. Vidanapathirana made these remarks while joining a press briefing held in Colombo.
