Naval officers including Karannagoda to appear before PCoI

Several naval officers including former Commander of the Sri Lanka Navy Admiral Wasantha Karannagoda are due to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to investigate incidents of political revenge, this afternoon (10).

Accordingly, Rear Admiral D. K. P. Dassanayake, Commodore R. P. S. Ranasinghe and Lieutenant Commander H. M. P. C. Hettiarachchi will appear before the Presidential Commission, a spokesman for the ministry said.

They have been summoned to obtain statements regarding a complaint lodged with the Presidential Commission of Inquiry.

The officers have lodged a complaint that the former Director of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Shani Abeysekera and Inspector Nishantha de Silva had obtained false statements and filed a complaint in the Colombo High Court.
