If the ‘lotus bud’ is selected as the symbol of the alliance between Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), SLFP has no issue of contesting under that symbol, stated, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara.

General Secretary of SLFP mentioned this at a press conference held at the party headquarters this morning (11).

He said: “The basic structure was to register the alliance under the People’s Alliance (PA) by the name ‘Sri Lanka Nidahas Podujana Sandhanaya’. We have made the necessary arrangements for that. Now we have to go through the process to get the office bearers appointed.

Former President Maithripala Sirisena did not ask for co-leadership. Back then, the situation was that the President of the country is the Chairman of the party.”
