Sri Lanka were all out for 418 in the second innings of the first Test against Bangladesh, posting a mammoth 510-run target for Bangladesh.

Kamindu Mendis’ marathon 164 off 237 balls and Dhananjaya De Silva’s 109 teared apart Bangladeshi bowlers and also put Sri Lanka in the driver’s seat.

Earlier, in the morning they were in a position of worry as Sri Lanka were crumbling on 126-6. But skipper Dhananjaya De Silva and Kamindu Mendis have turned things around for Sri Lanka yet again.

Meanwhile, Dhananjaya de Silva and Kamindu Mendis became the third pair in Test history to score a century in both innings, as Sri Lanka stretched their lead in the first Test against Bangladesh on Sunday.

With his two maiden Test centuries, young Sri Lankan all-rounder Kamindu Mendis etched his name into the record books as the first player to score twin centuries at No. 7 or below in a Test match.
