2025 World Athletics Championship: Rumesh Tharanga qualifies for Men’s Javelin final event

Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage qualified for the Men’s Javelin Throw final event at the 2025 World Athletics Championship in Tokyo.

Pathirage qualified for the final with a throw of 82.8 m in the qualification round held at the Japan National Stadium today.

Anderson Peters of Grenada had the longest throw in the qualifiers. He qualified with a throw of 89.53m while Germany’s Julian Weber threw a distance of 87.21m.

Sri Lanka’s Sumedha Ranasinghe could not qualify for the final after finishing 15th in the qualifying round with a distance of 81.86m.

The final of the Men’s Javelin Throw event is scheduled to be held tomorrow afternoon.
