ICC fines Pakistan’s Babar Azam for Code of Conduct breach

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has imposed a fine on Pakistan’s batter Babar Azam for violating the Code of Conduct during the third match against Sri Lanka.

According to the ICC, Babar Azam committed a Level 1 offence, for which he has been fined 10 percent of his match fee.

In addition, one demerit point has been added to his disciplinary record.

Babar Azam has accepted the ICC’s decision and acknowledged the breach of conduct.

The incident occurred, during the 21st over of the match between Pakistan Sri Lanka at the Rawalpindi Stadium, when Babar Azam struck his bat against the stumps after being dismissed by Jeffrey Vandersay.

On-field umpires Alex Wharf and Rashid Riaz, third umpire Sharfuddoula Ibne Shahid and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi levelled the charge while Ali Naqvi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees proposed the sanction.
