Tavi Samaraweera returns home with two U-11 World Table Tennis gold medals

Tavi Samaraweera, who won two Under-11 World Ranking Table Tennis tournaments, arrived in the country this morning (26).

He arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) onboard SalamAir flight OV-437 from Muscat, Oman, Ada Derana reporter said. 

Tavi Samaraweera clinched the gold medal at the Under-11 World Ranking Table Tennis Tournament held in Bahrain from January 14 to 18, 2026.

He also secured the gold medal at the Under-11 World Junior Table Tennis Championship held in Doha, Qatar, from January 19 to 25, 2026.

Currently aged 10, Tavi Samaraweera is a student of St. Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia.

He is coached by his father, Hasitha Samaraweera.

Notably, Tavi Samaraweera is currently ranked No. 1 in the Under-11 Boys’ World Table Tennis Rankings.
