Mahela Jayawardene and Angelo Mathews lifted Sri Lanka after a terrible start to chase 232 runs against Afghanistan at the World Cup match at Dunedin.

The veteran cricketer Mahela Jayawardene has scored his 4th World Cup ton and 19th ODI century before he was dismissed by Hamid.

A partnership of 126 runs by the duo helped lift the innings to a new level, before Mathews was sent back on his 44 runs.

Hamid Hasan gave a great start for the Afghans by dismissing ace batsman Kumar Sanggakara. The Afghans seemed overwhelmed to be on top of the Lankans.

However, the Sri Lanka has come out of the pressure to look forward to their victory against Afghanistan.

Earlier, the ‘under-dog’ Afghanistan set a target of 233 before Sri Lanka.

In response, The Sri Lanka team lost 4 early wickets.
