Every January, the CIES Football Observatory calculates the transfer values of players in the five major European leagues. This year the list has a few surprises, with the dip in Cristiano Ronaldo’s market value a huge talking point.

The assessment takes into account key criteria such as age, position, contract duration, performance, international status, etc. Five Premier League players make the top 10 with Gareth Bale not featuring in the top 100.
