India restricted Sri Lanka to a total of 152-9 in their second encounter of the Nidahas Trophy tri-series here on Monday.
Sri Lanka started on a promising note, but lost opener Danushka Gunathilaka early. However, it was Kusal Mendis’ innings of 55 which took the hosts to a satisfactory total, despite the rest of the team failing to step up.
Captain Thisara Perera, too, could not make an impact as he was dismissed for 15.
While Washington Sundar took two wickets, Shardul Thakur scalped four wickets.
Thakur was on a hat-trick in the final over after having removed Dasun Shanaka and Dushmantha Chameera. However, his hat-trick opportunity was denied by Suranga Lakmal, who scored one run from the final ball.
Meanwhile, Yuzvendra Chahal and Vijay Shankar ended up with one wicket each.
