ATM network of Sri Lanka not compromised in any way – LankaClear

It has been noted that incorrect messages are circulating in the social media relating to the security of Automated Teller Machines (ATM) of banks, states LankaClear, operator of LankaPay.

While asserting that the common ATM network adheres to the highest security standards, LankaClear says that all banks have informed them that the ATM network of Sri Lanka is not compromised in any way and safe to use.

Meanwhile, the Computer Society of Sri Lanka (CSSL) requests the public not to be misled by any news items which do not have proper technical grounds and to verify the authenticity of parties who spread such irresponsible statements prior to using such information.

Further, CSSL stated that CSSL is the only recognized local apex body for ICT professionals in Sri Lanka.

Reportedly, numerous inquiries had been made to the CSSL on recently published articles on various matters pertaining to the ICT industry by certain groups. Such articles are misleading with distorted facts detrimental to the general public who obtain services offered on ICT platforms, stated CSSL. 

TechCERT, Sri Lanka’s first and largest Computer Emergency Readiness Team, verifies that all banks, who are customers of TechCERT Managed Security Services, have taken a number of initiatives to strengthen their cyber security defenses in order to minimize the effect to their customers from cyber threats.
