Sri Lanka’s “Knights” emerges runners-up at ‘Battle of the Bands’ in India

The Sri Lankan musical group ‘Knights’, which represented the country at the “Battle of the Bands – International” competition held in India, has secured the runner-up position.

The group returned to Sri Lanka this morning (May 5), arriving at Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake at 6:14 a.m. via SriLankan Airlines flight UL-142 from Mumbai.

The competition, jointly organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India and the Sarigama Music Institute, was held in Mumbai from March 1 to May 4. 

It featured 12 musical groups representing 12 different countries.

The ‘Knights’ Band comprises Tharindu Nirmana, Danidu Perera, Rukshan Silva, Kavishka Ashan, and Geesara Wijekoon.

They were warmly welcomed at the airport by Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau officials, popular singers Samitha Mudunkotuwa and Athula Adikari, along with a group of well-wishers.
