After introducing the Metkayina clan in “Avatar: The Way of Water,” the direct sequel “Avatar: Fire and Ash” puts the spotlight on the Ash People.

In the epic trailer for the third installment of the “Avatar” film franchise, the Sully family join forces with the Metkayina clan and grieve Neteyam’s death.

They encounter a new Na’vi tribe, the Ash People, led by Varang (Oona Chaplin). The Ash People have allied with Jake Sully’s (Sam Worthington) enemy since the first film, Colonel Miles Quaritch (Stephen Lang).

Varang burns down Pandora’s forest and says in the trailer, “Your goddess has no dominion here.”

More cast members include Zoe Saldaña as Neytiri, Sigourney Weaver as Kiri, Kate Winslet as Ronal, Cliff Curtis as Tonowari, Britain Dalton as Loak, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss as Tuk, Jack Champion as Spider, and Bailey Bass as Reya.

“Avatar: Fire and Ash” premieres on December 19.
