Bhikkus oppose closure of Dambulla Temple...

Buddhist monks of the Dambulla Rock Temple stated that they would not allow the closure of the temple.
Following the announcement about the temporary closure of the temple for conservation purposes till the entry tickets for tourists were printed, locals and monks of the temple challenged the Government’s decision on multiple grounds, at a press conference held earlier this morning (11).
The newly appointed seat organizer threatened to resign from his position if the temple was harmed in any way.
