No foundation stones if funds not available: President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa has directed officials to protect all archaeological sites in the Wayamba area. He has also directed the authorities not to lay any foundation stones for constructions unless the necessary funds were available, says the President’s media Unit.

President Rajapaksa who is currently participating at the North Western (Wayamba) Provincial Council’s progress assessment meeting has directed the Cultural Affairs Ministry and Archaeological Department officials to take all possible measures to protect and conserve the archaeological sites in the Wayamba area and also to stop all illegal occupation of state lands.
