Floods remain in several areas of Kalutara District

Several roads reportedly remain inundated in Madurawala, Palindanuwara, Millaniya and Bulathsinhala areas of Kalutara District due to the heavy rainfall.

Meanwhile, it is also reported that the sluice gates of Kukule Ganga Reservoir and Deduru Oya Reservoir continue to remain open.

The Director of Irrigation, S.P.C. Sugeeshwara stated that flood situations continue to remain in certain areas of the Gampaha District. 

Meanwhile, the Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern and North-western provinces and in Kandy and Nuwara-Eliya districts. 

Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, it said, adding that showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Eastern, Uva and North-Central Provinces during the evening or night.

Fairly strong winds of about 30-40 kmph are also expected at times over Western slopes of the central hills and in Northern, North-central and North-western provinces and in Hambantota District.
