Chinese man wanted over large-scale financial fraud held at BIA, deported

A Chinese national, against whom a ‘Blue Notice’ has been issued by Interpol for large-scale financial fraud in China, has been deported by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake.

The 28-year-old Chinese national is reportedly a wanted person in China for allegedly committing large-scale financial fraud.

He had arrived at BIA in Katunayake from Maldives on September 03 and was arrested by the Immigration Department officials and handed over to the CID officers at the airport.

Following further investigation by the CID officers at the BIA, he was deported back to the Maldives onboard an Emirates flight, last night (04).
