5 police officers among injured in ‘firecracker’ incident at SJB rally

Several individuals, including police officers, have reportedly been injured and hospitalized in an incident involving the exploding of firecrackers during the presidential election rally of the ‘Samagi Jana Balawegaya’ (SJB) held in Kandy.

As the election campaign rally commenced, firecrackers were set off and due to the explosion of the firecrackers, five police officers and two civilians had sustained injuries and they have been admitted to the Kandy National Hospital.

The rally is currently taking place in Kandy with the participation of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya’s (SJB) Presidential Candidate and Leader of the Opposition, Sajith Premadasa.
