Water cut in Homagama reduced to 12 hours – NWSDB

The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) has decided to reduce the duration of the scheduled water cut to 12 hours.
Accordingly, the water supply to Homagama will be suspended tomorrow (April 5) from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. under the second phase of the schedule, the Water Board stated.
Earlier it was announced that the duration of the scheduled water cuts in Padukka, Homagama, Pelanwatta and Pannipitiya will be reduced to between eight and 12 hours starting tomorrow (April 5).
This was after the National Water Supply and Drainage Board decided to suspend water supply for 24-hours once every four days to these areas due to prevailing dry weather conditions.
However, considering the inconvenience caused to consumers by a 24-hour water cut, the NWSDB yesterday (April 3) announced a reduction in the duration of the water cuts to 18 hours, which has now been further reduced to between eight and 12 hours.
Meanwhile, the Water Board stated that a special program is being implemented to supply water through bowsers if further disruptions occur in the Colombo District.
Accordingly, water bowsers from other districts under the NWSDB have already been mobilized to Colombo, the Chairman of the Water Board Chandana Bandara said.
He further noted that approximately 20,000 water connections have already been affected due to the ongoing supply disruptions.
