Early landslide warnings issued to residents in several districts

The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued landslide early warnings for six districts due to the prevailing heavy rainfall across the country.

Accordingly, Level 3 — Evacuate (Red Warning) landslide warnings have been issued for the Deraniyagala, Ruwanwella, and Dehiowita areas in the Kegalle District, as well as the Eheliyagoda, Kuruwita, Ayagama, and Ratnapura areas in the Ratnapura District.

Furthermore, Level 2 — Be Alert (Amber Warning) landslide warnings have been issued for the Seethawaka and Padukka areas in the Colombo District; the Attanagalla area in the Gampaha District; the Bulathsinhala, Horana, Ingiriya, and Palindanuwara areas in the Kalutara District; the Yatiyantota area in the Kegalle District; and the Pelmadulla, Kiriella, Elapatha, Kalawana, and Nivitigala areas in the Ratnapura District.

Meanwhile, Level 1 — Remain Vigilant (Yellow Warning) landslide warnings have been issued for the Mirigama and Divulapitiya areas in the Gampaha District; the Agalawatta and Matugama areas in the Kalutara District; the Bulathkohupitiya area in the Kegalle District; and the Ambagamuwa area in the Nuwara Eliya District.
