Several parents of students at the Alupothdeniya K.V. in Walasmulla have climbed a tree and commenced a fast unto death due to the school only conducting classes until Grade 9.

The parents demand that classes for Grade 10 and 11 be conducted in the school as well, the Ada Derana provincial correspondent said.

Presently classes for Grade 10-11 are being held in the school, however the students attending these classes cannot sit for the upcoming G.C.E. O/L examination, the parents explain.

Furthermore the parents of the students have also threatened to set themselves on fire if their demands are not met with.
