The government has decided to close all liquor shops, race bookies, casinos and nightclubs on May 16, 17 & 18 for Vesak Full Moon Poya Day, the Government Information Department confirmed. Sale of liquor at Super Markets has been prohibited as well on the above dates.
Meanwhile the government has also ordered that all meat stalls be closed and the sale of meat at any Super Market be banned on May 17 & 18.
