Suspect remanded after selling Copper container as Gold

The Anuradhapura Magistrate court ordered police to remand a suspect who allegedly sold a copper water container lined with lead for a sum of Rs.1.1 million under the pretence that the container was made of gold.

The suspect had mislead a businessman in Akuressa to believe that the container was made of gold and sold it to him for a sum over Rs.1 million.

The Magistrate ordered the suspect to be remanded until August 2 while directing the police to present two other suspects involved in the case.
