Prof. Mendis Rohanadeera passes away

Prominent intellectual on Buddhist culture, archaeology and history Professor Mendis Rohanadeera has passed away. He was 80 years old at the time of his demise.

Professor Rohanadeera had been admitted to the Colombo General Hospital yesterday (August 25) due to a sudden illness and had passed away at around 9.30pm, according to family members.

The body is to be taken to his residence in Subuthipura, Battaramulla today while the final rites of professor Rohanadeera will be held on Wednesday (31).

He was a lecturer at University of Sri Jayawardenapura.
